🧵 Sewing Instructions (Translated from Danish)
Tip:
If you don’t have spray starch, you can also baste all seams and folds in place before machine sewing. Basting helps prevent the pieces from shifting during sewing, which often happens if you only use pins.
✂️ Step-by-Step Instructions:
Interface Application
Iron the interfacing onto the wrong side of the facing pieces.Seam Finishing
All seams should be overlocked or finished with a zigzag stitch. All seams are sewn right sides together, unless otherwise noted.Shoulder Seams
Sew the front and back pieces together at the shoulders.Side Seams
Sew the side seams of the dress.Ruffle Edge Hem
Fold side A of the ruffles 0.5 cm to the wrong side and stitch. Fold over another 0.5 cm to the wrong side and stitch again, creating a clean double-fold hem.Gathering the Ruffles
Sew gathering stitches along side B of the ruffles. Gather the ruffles so they fit between the points marked “R” on the sleeves. Pin the ruffles wrong side of ruffle to right side of sleeve, aligning between the R marks, and baste in place along the seam allowance.Sleeves
Sew the sleeve seams. Insert the sleeves into the armholes and stitch.Neckline Facing
Sew the shoulder seams of the front and back facings. Pin the facing to the neckline right sides together. Stitch the neckline all the way around and down each side of the slit, stitching 0.5 cm wide and ending in a point at marking “S”. Clip the slit open between the stitching lines, notch the seam allowances in curved areas, and trim at the top of the slit. Turn the facing to the inside and topstitch around the neckline and down the slit with a 0.2 cm seam allowance.Hemming
Fold the bottom edges of the dress and sleeve hems to the inside and topstitch in place.Button Loop
On the left side of the top slit, create a loop by making two long stitches about 4 cm in length, then overcast them with buttonhole stitches. Sew a covered button on the right side of the slit to fasten.Final Step
If you used spray starch, wash the dress after completing the sewing to remove the starch.
